Hello there, my name is Laura Zima and I’m an outdoor photographer.

I have been photographing in the outdoors for over seven years. I love being out in nature and seeing all it’s beauty. With my photography I tried to capture that beauty so others can see it as well. My photography has taken me all over the county from the coast of North Carolina to the giants in California. I have explored from the hot deserts of Utah to the cold plains of Alaska. Where I will go next? Who knows.

About me

I grew up in Whiteville, North Carolina. A small town along the coast. I studied photography at East Carolina University and spent my 20s living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Most of my time was spent whitewater kayaking, traveling and climbing the corporate ladder. But after a few years, I grew tired of the corporate race and wanted more freedom in my job and my photography. During this time, I was able go on many outdoor adventure with my friend Drew, who at the time was doing season work. I loved the freedom he had, all the different places he got to worked and beautiful places he has seen. The idea of working seasonal started to grow. In May of 2022 I accepted a seasonal job in Juneau, Alaska. I sold many of my possessions and moved across the country. Know I’m full time seasonal work here in Alaska. I have been able to travel all over the state and taking photos as I go.

My Why

Why Photography? When I was in High School I took photos of my friends when we were in marching band. I loved all the different facial expression and action shoot I captured. At the time, I didn’t know but I was telling stories. Story telling has been a part of us for thousand of year and photography is just another way to tell them. I love to tell and hear story and my photography is just another way to tell them. The story of my travels, the thing I have seen, done and experience. With my photography I am able to help other see places and things form around the world and help tell there stories.
